Stop and Go

I've talked for a long time about starting a blog, and I've created several blog names. Rest Stops and Road Signs is a name that I thought would be good to document a cross-country road trip that Cory and I have long talked about taking. I hope we will be able make that trip some day, or better, in the not too distant future. For now, I am realizing that I make lots of smaller road trips that are equally worthy of documenting.

My Dad has suggested to me that I try making work each day - maybe setting aside just an hour. I've seen the wisdom of that idea, but I've always wanted to have large chunks of time to devote to work, to travel, to read - whatever. I've not wanted to live life in small increments.

My goal for 2009 is to accomplish a lot through concentrated bursts of energy in short stints of time. We'll see where it goes.

This first group of photos is from driving around in upstate New York near Italy Valley and Avoca during my trip home for Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.

The photo I've picked for the blog is a car lot full of cars covered over in a blue tarp for the winter. Or they might be boats. Anyway, I like what this photo represents - all that potential movement waiting to be released.

Here's mud in your eye!
